“TT” is a hit title track by South Korean girl group TWICE, released on October 24, 2016 as part of their mini album TWICEcoaster: LANE 1. The lyrics were written by Sam Lewis, with Rado (Black Eyed Pilseung) composing the track. The title “TT” comes from a Korean emoticon that looks like crying eyes, perfectly matching the song’s theme of cute frustration and emotional confusion. A Japanese version was released the following year, and on January 23, 2020 at 9:02 PM, the music video officially surpassed 500 million views on YouTube — a major milestone for the group.
Background & Release
JYP Entertainment announced TWICE’s comeback on October 10, 2016. The first teaser, released on October 20, featured a young boy and girl in Halloween costumes, tying into the music video’s playful spooky theme. A remix of “TT” was later released on February 20, 2017 through the follow-up album TWICEcoaster: LANE 2.
Music Video Performance
The “TT” music video gained explosive attention immediately after its release. It reached 5 million views in under 24 hours, marking one of the strongest early view counts for a K-pop girl group at the time. It went on to hit 20 million views in just 114 hours and surpassed 100 million views in early 2017, solidifying the song as one of TWICE’s most iconic and fast-rising tracks.
