About the Song
Released in 2015, “Like OOH-AHH (OOH-AHH하게)” by TWICE is the bold debut track that mixed hip-hop, R&B, and rock into a new style the producers called “color pop.” The song presents TWICE as confident girls who appear popular and glamorous on the outside, yet secretly long for a real, heart-fluttering love. Re-interpretation
“OOH-AHH하게” cleverly plays with dual meaning:
“Ooh-Ahh” as an English exclamation (wow! / surprising), and “하게” as a Korean
ending meaning “in that way.” Together, the title captures both excitement and elegance.
The lyrics describe a girl who seems perfect, popular, and admired — the type everyone looks at on the street — yet
she has never felt a truly breathtaking, genuine love. She waits for someone who will make her feel something she has
never experienced before, someone who can make her go “Ooh, Ahh” in a way she can’t control. The repeated “Ooh-Ahh”
lines also carry a subtle sensual nuance, adding layers to the song’s playful charm.
Cultural Interpretation
The song’s choreography — especially the bold shoulder-and-wave motions — quickly spread among fans, adding to its viral popularity. Its mix of zombie-themed visuals, colorful styling, and TWICE’s bright rookie energy helped define the group’s identity and set the stage for their rise as one of the biggest girl groups of the 3rd generation.
