About the Song
《Opera》 is SUPER JUNIOR’s third official Japanese single, released on May 9, 2012 through Avex Trax. The track originally appeared as the second song on their fifth Korean studio album Mr. Simple (released August 3, 2011). Upon release, the single set a new record for the highest first-week sales by a Korean artist in Japan.
Initially written in English as “NAUGHTY” by Thomas Troelsen and Engelina Larsen, the song was never officially released in that version. Kenzie later rewrote it in Korean, and it became part of *Mr. Simple*. In Japan, 《Opera》 debuted at No. 3 on the Oricon Daily Chart with 54,331 copies sold on day one, followed by 15,608 on day two. It entered the Oricon Weekly Chart at No. 3 with 159,789 copies sold in its first week—surpassing the previous Japanese single “Mr. Simple” and becoming SUPER JUNIOR’s best-selling Japanese single at the time, as well as the top-selling Korean release in Japan for 2012.
