The lyrics look back on the distance between childhood hopes and the unfamiliar adult the narrator has become. After wandering through days colored by summer blues, she encounters a vision of freedom and dreams of escaping like a butterfly to Hawaii, leaving confusion behind. A young girl from a dream then reaches out with a yellow flower, reconnecting her with the bright aspirations she once carried.
