《Super Shy》 is the lead single from NewJeans’ second EP Get Up (2023), released on July 7 alongside the prologue track “New Jeans” by ADOR, a Hybe label. Blending liquid drum and bass, bubblegum textures, and Jersey club elements, the song is propelled by sharp staccato kick patterns and follows the inner monologue of someone far too shy to confess their feelings. Written by Gigi, Kim Donghyun, Erika de Casier, Kristine Bogan, Frankie Scoca, and NewJeans member Danielle, the track captures the delicate tension of unspoken affection with a light, hyper-modern touch. 《Super Shy》 received widespread acclaim for its inventive and alluring production, earning placements on 2023 year-end lists from outlets including NME, The Guardian, Pitchfork, and Rolling Stone. Commercially, it became NewJeans’ third number-one hit on the Circle Digital Chart, topped rankings in Singapore and on Billboard’s Hits of the World charts in Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Taiwan, and reached number two on the Billboard Global 200—marking the group’s highest entry across several national charts including the U.K. and U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Directed by Shin Hee-won, the music video was filmed in Lisbon and features flash-mob–style choreography praised for its vivid fusion of Y2K nostalgia and contemporary aesthetics. Following the release of their January single album OMG, ADOR CEO and creative director Min Hee-jin confirmed that a new album was in progress, later revealing that recording had been completed. The six-track EP Get Up was ultimately announced with triple title tracks “Super Shy,” “ETA,” and “Cool With You,” plus the prologue “New Jeans.” In interviews, member Hanni described the project as fresh and more diverse in both musical genre and performance style. Composed by Erika de Casier, Kristine Bogan, and Frankie Scoca—who also produced the track—《Super Shy》 sits at the intersection of liquid drum and bass, U.K. garage, and Jersey club, with critics noting its heartbeat-like percussion and aerodynamic structure. Its lyrics, co-written with Gigi, Kim Donghyun, and Danielle, follow a shy protagonist attempting to gather the courage to express a crush.
